Whiteland United Methodist Church
Prayer Requests & Meditation Garden

Schedule a half hour once a week to relax and enjoy God's company.
Plan a few minutes in your day to spend time with Him.
Practice walking in His presence all the time!

Our meditation garden, located near the front of the church provides a place to enjoy God’s gift of green and growing plants.
The garden provides a place to sit and pray even when the church sanctuary is not available or open.
As you drive by, especially during the spring and summer, feel free to stop in and enjoy the colors and the fragrance.
Note that the plants in the garden remind us of the following:

  • Burning Bush: The Ten Commandments
  • Golden Juniper Rose Bush: Jesus suffered for us
  • Dogwood: Jesus died for our sins
  • Butterfly Bush: Jesus’ resurrection
  • Golden Spirea: God’s pure love for us
  • An Evergreen Tree: Everlasting life
  • Lavender: The sweet presence of the Holy Spirit who guides us
  • A Boulder: God's strength that supports us

The rugged cross, the centerpiece of the garden, was created by the youth of the church. The bench has angels for the bases and angel wings on the seat for which to support us in time of need.

Our thanks go to the Hunt family for the original design of the garden, and to the Chandler family for their loving care of the plants each summer.
